Summary of

Job Duties

This Electronics Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of campus fire alarm systems, ensuring all equipment operates in compliance with applicable safety codes and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include installing cabling for fire alarm systems, as well as supporting the installation of related electronic security systems such as card access and CCTV. The role involves diagnosing and resolving issues affecting fire alarm, security, and surveillance systems.

Additionally, this position assists with maintaining the accuracy of the campus access control database and responds to after‑hours emergencies and critical system issues as needed.

This position is weather essential.

Regular, reliable, and non‑disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Minimum Qualifications for Electronics Technician I
  • Formal education equivalent of a high school diploma
  • At least three years of experience in the electronics field or equivalent experience
  • NICET Level I or the ability to obtain within six months of hire
Minimum Qualifications for Electronics Technician II
  • All of the above
  • NICET Level II Certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire
  • At least seven years' experience in maintaining access control, alarms, and/or CCTV systems or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II Certification
  • Experience with low voltage
  • Journeyman Electrician License
  • Experience with installation access controls
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools and small power tools
  • Leadership skills
  • Ability to perform manual labor under varying working conditions
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions

Salary Information

Control Technician I - $57,399 (Commensurate with education and experience)
Control Technician II - $63,139 (Commensurate with education and experience)
