Job SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Job Supervisor or the Road Superintendent, the incumbent primarily performs labor tasks in the construction, improvement, and maintenance of county roads. The role also operates road department equipment including dump trucks, loaders, and graders. Responsibilities include procurement and maintenance of parts inventory, assisting with two-way radio communications, maintaining the shop building, monitoring identification and informational signing, making and installing highway signs, and other duties related to sign installation.
The incumbent is responsible for maintaining assigned tools and equipment and for machinery valued up to $450,000 and sign material/inventory valued at $100,000.
- Perform labor tasks related to construction, improvement, and maintenance of county roads.
- Operate road department equipment, including dump trucks, loaders, and graders.
- Procure and maintain parts inventory; assist with two-way radio communications.
- Maintain the shop building and equipment; monitor signing and install highway signs as needed.
- Maintain assigned tools and equipment; manage machinery valued up to $450,000 and sign materials/inventory valued at $100,000.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Must obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required.
- This position is subject to pre-employment, random drug, and reasonable suspicion testing; if a promotional position, the candidate must pass an assignment drug test.
