We are seeking a compassionate, trustworthy, reliable and safety-conscious Shuttle Driver to transport residents to and from the main building and various on-campus locations. This part-time position primarily involves evening meal shuttle service, special event shuttle service, filling in for medical appointment drivers when needed, and running errands. The ideal candidate will ensure the safety, comfort, and timely transportation of residents while adhering to all transportation policies.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the safety and comfort of passengers by adhering to transportation policies, including seat belt and wheelchair restraint use. Document and report any safety incidents by calling for medical assistance and completing an Incident Report with the Resident Care Office. Provide a copy to the Assistant Director of Programs. (Daily)
- Work typical hours 4pm to 8pm, with additional hours for events, programs, and occasional daytime duties. Scheduled days may vary and/or include weekends.
- Transport residents from Independent, Health Care, Special Care, and Assisted Living areas to and from the Village Main entrance and other BTV campus locations.
- Record and report maintenance problems in writing whenever they occur.
- Report resident needs daily to the Assistant Director of Programs.
- Keep an accurate and legible count of all persons transported daily.
- Assist residents in and out of vehicles daily.
- Drive only BTV vehicles; not permitted to drive residents' personal automobiles.
- Use cellular telephone communication only when necessary, preferably via Bluetooth.
- Fill in as a backup driver for medical appointment drivers as needed.
- Assist Program Directors in evaluating vehicle wear and tear as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and positive representation of company vehicles as needed.
- Follow all BTV policies and directives at all times.
- Assist Program Directors with special events, parties, and other activities as needed.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
- Minimum requirement; GED or High School diploma, plus 6 months related experience and/or training.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience is also considered
- Read a limited number of words and recognize similarities and/or differences between words and between a series of numbers.
- Write and speak simple sentences as a means for essential communication.
- Read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, notes, letters, and memos.
- Read and understand policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
