Responsibilities
  • Field Engineering responsibilities include closeout redlines, test audits, lessons learned, warranties, and product submittals.
  • Manage redlines and changes to the Statement of Work (SoW); field engineers coordinate with leads and superintendents to submit redlines to engineering.
  • Engineering creates internal calendars to track tasks and finalize dates; build-out often involves extensive redlining for measurements, equipment placements, grounding, and bonding.
  • Field Engineers verify infrastructure against design/specifications and finalize redlines for closeout when changes occur.
  • Fiber scope uses an internal tracker to reflect past changes;
    Field Engineers verify Fiber deliverables per IES customer designs.
  • Copper scope uses an internal tracker to confirm close-out readiness;
    Field Engineer acts as point of contact to ensure installation aligns with print and performs redlines as needed.
  • Network scope involves configuring details when redlines are required, with the Field Engineer taking primary responsibility.
  • RFI referencing/implementation:
    Field Engineer references RFIs in redlines as a final task before QA review.
  • Test Audits:
    Field Engineers run and verify audits after project completion, verify cable schedules, and compile audit-friendly packaging for the team; ensure 100% alignment with prints.
  • Audits begin when areas are ready; conduct re-tests as needed and communicate expected completion dates; finalize audits after retests are completed.
  • Lessons Learned:
    Update across engineers and QA during builds; finalize the standardized lessons learned template at project end using the lessons learned tracker.
  • Warranties:
    Field Engineers gather information toward the end of the build and coordinate with a designated team member to process warranties.
  • Product Submittals:
    Field Engineer completes product submittals early in the process, verifies BOM against POs, and collects product sheets for submittal templates.
  • Labels:
    Print installation labels in advance to reduce build time; maintain organized bins per area and a sign-out process for leads. Email the engineering teams for any reprints with reasons.
  • RFI management:
    Field Engineer may oversee RFIs before submission; RFIs with design feedback are captured as lessons learned; acceptance/rejection communications are issued to applicable teams by the Field Engineer.
  • Design (Shop Drawings):
    Field Engineer may oversee design-related work, verify and contribute to BIM
    360 submissions, and track revisions and hyperlinks.
  • Areas of focus include:
    Infrastructure (Grounding/Bonding), Copper, Fiber, and Detail sheet(s).
Qualifications
  • Physical and Mental Requirements:
    Self-motivated, positive, professional, and capable of leading others to improve project processes. Ability to promote company culture and mission; strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and the ability to read, write, and present effectively. Ability to diagnose and fix problems with existing equipment and new installations; enthusiastic, patient, and a critical thinker. Strong customer service skills and the ability to interpret blueprints and project documents (specifications, reporting, quality requirements).
  • Travel as needed within branch and/or regional territory.
  • Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:
    At least a High School diploma or GED;
