Description of Work The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical, public, and support services necessary to help the Outer Banks History Center preserve, provide access to, and interpret the history of the Outer Banks region and provide access to holdings for the public by performing a wide range of public services and administrative functions for the Center; delivering reference services to onsite and remote researchers to provide intellectual and physical access to the Center's archival and library holdings;

performing arrangement and description of archival materials acquired by the Center and other technical services to provide access to Center collections; assisting the director with facility operations, budget management, and purchasing to ensure effective running and maintenance of the Center; helping develop and implement outreach programs, services and activities to assure the Center meets its mission and goals; and creating and maintaining collections management policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Provide reference services for patrons onsite and remotely including monitoring and responding to Outer Banks History Center emails inquiries, assisting patrons with identification of relevant collections, and managing in person reference services
· Perform arrangement and description of archival materials to support collections management and archival processing.
· Assist the director with facility operations, budget management, and purchasing.
· Assist with developing and implementing outreach programs, services, and activities.
· Contribute to public awareness of the center through giving presentations, conducting tours, assisting with exhibits, and managing the center’s social media.

Recruitment Range: $37,377.00 - $49,685.00

Basic knowledge of North Carolina history and its people, the organization and operations of state and local governments in North Carolina, and genealogy practices.
