Overview
The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is the L1 SSHO as key personnel, a full-time employee who through education, experience and training has the technical knowledge and skills needed to anticipate, recognize, and evaluate hazardous conditions and recommend corrective actions and ensure corrections are made in a timely manner, and in compliance with OSHA, NFPA Standards, USACE, State and Local laws.
ResponsibilitiesThe SSHO is responsible for:
- Implementing and evaluating our safety and health program the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) to assure all associates and subcontractors are to work on an environment that is free from any recognized hazards.
- Responsible for obtaining all documents of incident/injuries investigation and reporting to our corporate office in a timely manner.
- Provide the necessary safety topics training and orientation to all associates and subcontractors to comply with our safety policy and procedures to include but not limited to Hazard Communication, Fall Protection, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), Control of Hazardous Energy (LOTO), Quality Health Safety Environmental (QHSE) policies just to name a few.
- Review and participate in a team effort with customer's WBAMC safety programs of;
Fire Protection, Infection Control (IC), Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM), Environment of Care (EOC), to be in compliance with, The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation standards/requirements.
Requirements:
- OSHA 30-hour training card (or course completion certificate if within 90 calendar days of having completed the training and card has not yet been issued).
- Resume or certificates demonstrating, for a minimum of the last five (5) years, the SHO has maintained competencies through 8-hours of formal safety and health related training per year. A detailed description is required for any training for which a certificate is not available. Generic descriptions are not acceptable.
- Resume demonstrating five (5) years of continuous safety experience in supervising or managing general industry/construction/O&M, including managing safety programs or processes or conducting hazard analyses and developing controls.
- Knowledge using Safety and Health Requirements (USACE EM385-1-1) safety manual is desirable.
- Ability to work long hours, or after hours, on call for weekend work.
- Have a current driver's license to drive inside military base Ft. Liberty, obtain a security clearance for a common access card (CAC).
- Have good report writing and computer skills to enter data on government forms, corporate summary reports, incident report writing or using spreadsheets in Excel, Word, Acrobat, etc.
