Our client, a well-established general contractor based in the Cary, NC area, is looking for an experienced Construction Quality Control (CQC) Manager to lead quality control on a major federal healthcare construction project in Fayetteville, NC. This is a direct-hire, permanent position with a company known for taking care of its people.
About the RoleYou’ll hold full authority and responsibility for Construction Quality Control on a large-scale VA renovation project, serving as the designated CQC representative to the government's Contracting Officer's Representative (COR). This is a hands‑on, on‑site leadership role — not a desk job — overseeing submittals, inspections, and quality documentation from start to finish on a multi-year federal contract.
What You’ll Do- Develop and manage the project's CQC Plan from the ground up
- Maintain full‑time, on‑site presence throughout construction
- Execute the three‑phase inspection process (preparatory, initial, follow‑up) for every phase of work
- Review submittals and verify materials/equipment meet contract specifications
- Maintain daily QC reports and documentation for government review
- Serve as the primary point of contact with the COR and government inspectors
- Track non‑conformances through to resolution
- A degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management (required — this is a federal contract requirement, not substitutable by experience)
- 5+ years of commercial construction experience (concrete/steel — residential/wood‑frame experience does not apply)
- Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Contractors certification, or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of hire (company‑paid)
- Experience on a federal contract (VA, USACE, NAVFAC, or similar) strongly preferred
- Healthcare, medical, or lab construction experience a plus
- Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software
- Willingness to be based on‑site in the Fayetteville, NC area for the duration of the project
This is a chance to own quality control on a significant, multi‑year federal healthcare project for a company that’s growing its federal contract work and investing in bringing this function in‑house. Competitive compensation, and the company will cover your CQM certification if you're not already current.
