The Examiner I- Driver License position requires a strong customer-first mindset, ensuring every transaction delivers timely, respectful, and accurate service while identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery and streamline office operations. This includes anticipating customer needs, recognizing and addressing concerns before they’ll step up to escalation, providing clear guidance to help customers navigate the licensing process, and ensuring North Carolinians receive accurate and timely assistance.
Examiner I employees will maintain compliance with all North Carolina laws and will interpret regulations as well as Division policies while collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to maintain consistency and alignment across regions. The candidate selected for this position will maintain professionalism in all customer interactions and uphold high service standards, which is essential to improving customer satisfaction and strengthening the Division’s reputation statewide.

To ensure we meet our mission of providing for customers in other offices, flexibility to travel during the day and overnight on short notice may be required. Certain Driver License Offices have extended hours. Extended Hours Driver License Offices are expected to work a flexible schedule based on operational and customer service needs. Work schedules may include rotating shifts with start and end times between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Employees may be scheduled for extended weekday hours and Saturday operations while maintaining the established workweek and applicable state policies. Specific schedules may vary based on staffing, customer demand, office operations, and business needs.
