POOL - Clinical Dentist; Part-time

Responsibilities

• Presence on the floor of the clinic during all clinic sessions
• Handle all medical emergencies that arise during clinic hours
• Prescribe proper medication as needed
• Administer local anesthesia when appropriate
• Answer questions from both students and patients
• Serve as an authority on dental matters for dental hygiene faculty/staff
• Identify treatments for patients that may be medically compromised
• Identify pathologies and make the appropriate referral – medical and/or dental
• Refer patients for follow-up treatment
• Prescribe pit and fissure sealants as needed
• Identify and evaluate any lesion, anomaly or deviation from the normal
• Review radiographs and make a subsequent diagnosis based on the review
• Review patients' health histories and make referrals to a physician as necessary
• Evaluate students as they provide patient care – through each process and end result
• Provide consulting services to patients to suggest and review treatment plans
