Primary Purpose of the Organization:

The mission of the Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) is to provide child care that encompasses the needs of each child and family in a safe, educational environment. The structure of the ECLC's focus is on the individual needs of each child, while providing quality, reliable, and safe child care in preparation for higher education.
The ECLC seeks to provide a program of experience designed to attain the following goals: to provide many opportunities for social development and adjustment; to promote development of good health habits; to provide opportunities for self-expression through language, music, art, role playing, dramatizations, and other play experiences;
to provide an atmosphere in which a child can succeed, thus building confidence in his or her own ability and worth.to provide an atmosphere in which creativity is stimulated; to develop a feeling of adequacy with emphasis on independence and good work habits; and to lay foundations for subject matter learning and intellectual growth. Plan and implement a program that will enrich the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of children ages 0-5.
To provide elementary education majors and individuals seeking Birth-Kindergarten certification an opportunity to become familiar with young children and their characteristics and to enable the translation of theoretical concepts into practical applications.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
Is to provide young children ages 0-5 with the skills and tools necessary for them to enter kindergarten and first grade fully prepared. The prospective employee will assist the teacher with planning and implementing a program that will enrich the physical, social and emotional needs of these children.
The prospective employee will be required to perform administrative duties that include completing, keeping accurate enrollment records of students, notifying the administrative assistant and director of any changes in the status of any child.
The prospective employee will be responsible for maintaining an environment that is free of danger and she/he must have the ability to administer CPR and first aid should the need arises.
The prospective employee will be required to mentor parents, work study students and students majoring in elementary education and birth to kindergarten. Employees will be responsible for maintaining an open line of communications with parents of these children as well as university officials and local childcare agencies.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Graduation from high school or GED;
- One year of experience in an early childhood program serving infants and toddlers in a developmentally appropriate environment. Prefer candidate with a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Infant and Toddler Caregivers or an equivalent credential that addresses comparable competencies;
- Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children.
COMMUNICATION:
- Ability to provide effective feedback to leadership regarding developmental progress and classroom needs.
- Ability to convey information effectively in written form to parents and other caregivers such as daily progress reports or classroom observations.
- Ability to further organizational mission and goals through participation in community outreach
- Ability to apply knowledge of childcare techniques to ensure basic physical care of children.
