• Uses curriculum items and methodology developed by the teacher with individuals and groups
• Discusses the program and its relation to each child’s needs with the lead teacher
• Assists teacher with curriculum planning and gathering of materials needed to implement daily learning activities
• Follows teacher’s lead during class time
• Accurately follows established center procedures and routines (diaper changing, emergency procedures, schedules, etc.) without immediate supervision
• Interacts positively with children and provides an appropriate role model
• Participates in parent involvement program including writing for the center’s newsletter, regularly scheduled parent-teacher conferences, and parent meetings
• Maintains a clean, safe and health learning environment
• Other duties as assigned

• High School or equivalent required
• Proof of course completion in NC Credentials EDU
  119 Early Childhood Development with six (6) additional hours in Early Childhood Development from an accredited school required
• Out of state coursework must be reviewed by the NC Division of Childhood Development
• Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Infant Toddler Safe Sleep (ITS-SIDS) certification required

• 2 years of responsible classroom experience in a professional childcare setting and/or elementary school preferred

• Knowledge of physical, intellectual, emotional, and social characteristics of children ages birth to five years.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
• Ability to communicate effectively and visually observe children in the classroom.

• Work involves a variety of activities to include walking, standing, and lifting of children and various objects.
