The prospective employee will assist the teacher in planning and implementing a program that enriches the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of children ages 0‑5. Responsibilities include administrative duties such as maintaining accurate enrollment records and notifying the administrative assistant and director of any changes in a child’s status. The employee must maintain a safe environment, administer CPR and first aid when required, and mentor parents, work‑study students, and students majoring in elementary education.
Open communication with parents, university officials, and local child‑care agencies is essential.
- Graduation from high school or GED.
- One year of experience in an early‑childhood program serving infants and toddlers in a developmentally appropriate environment; preferred candidate has a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Infant and Toddler Caregivers or an equivalent credential.
- Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children.
Communication
- Provide effective feedback to leadership regarding developmental progress and classroom needs.
- Convey information effectively in written form to parents and other caregivers such as daily progress reports or classroom observations.
- Participate in community outreach to further organizational mission and goals.
- Apply knowledge of childcare techniques to ensure basic physical care of children.
- Work with children in groups and individually to model socialization and behavior skills.
- Carry out varied instructional plans for assigned age groups.
- Provide feedback regarding curriculum comprehension to leadership.
- Apply knowledge of safety techniques to facilities and children.
- Provide preventive measures, first aid, medication, and treatments as necessary.
- Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education from an accredited community college.
- At least three (3) years of experience working in a child‑care setting.
- Child‑care credentials I and II.
- Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) certificate.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
