QUALIFICATIONS: A four‑year degree from an accredited institution with NC certification in the assigned area of teaching.

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB GOAL: To demonstrate leadership, to establish a respectful environment for a diverse student body, to know the content they teach, to facilitate learning, and to reflect on their practice.

Teachers demonstrate the value of lifelong learning and encourage their students to learn and grow by:

• Building leadership among staff and administration to achieve consensus and shared ownership of the school’s vision and purpose.
• Making instruction engaging, relevant, and meaningful by aligning it with common core, essential standards, and 21st‑century content (global awareness, financial, economic, business, entrepreneurial literacy, civic literacy, and health awareness).
• Teaching core content that includes critical thinking, problem‑solving, and ICT literacy.
• Facilitating instruction with appropriate methods and integrating technology.
• Using diverse assessment methods to monitor learning and support teamwork and leadership development.
• Collaborating with families and significant adults, adapting instruction for students with special needs, and upholding fairness.
• Demonstrating honesty, integrity, fair treatment, and respect for others (code mandates referenced).
• Acting as a team player and role model, committing to quality improvement, and supporting core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, customer‑driven focus, and fairness.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

• Must communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders.
• Must possess finger dexterity and be able to perform mandatory physical functions (kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, repetitive motion).
