Job DescriptionQualifications: A four‑year degree from an accredited institution with NC certification in the assigned area of teaching.
Job Goal: To demonstrate leadership, establish a respectful environment for a diverse population of students, know the content they teach, facilitate learning for their students, and reflect on their practice.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Building leadership among staff and administration to bring about consensus and shared ownership of the school's vision and purpose.
- Making the content engaging, relevant, and meaningful to students’ lives by aligning instruction with the Common Core, essential standards, and 21st‑century content, including global awareness, financial, economic, business, entrepreneurial literacy, civic literacy, and health awareness.
- Teaching existing core content revised to include critical thinking, problem‑solving, and ICT literacy.
- Facilitating instruction using a variety of instructional methods and technology suitable for students.
- Using various assessment methods to determine student learning and to help students work in teams and develop leadership qualities.
- Collaborating with families and significant adults to adapt teaching for students with special needs and embracing fairness in the school community and the world.
- Demonstrating ethical principles—including honesty, integrity, fair treatment, and respect for others—as outlined in the NC Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.
Serves as a team player and role model for other employees, demonstrating commitment to continuous quality improvement and the core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, customer‑driven focus, and fairness.
Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders.
- Must have finger dexterity and ability to perform basic life functions such as kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
