Primary Purpose of the Organization:

The Bronco One Stop is a centralized space for students to access common student services to strengthen their ability to navigate Fayetteville State University. The goal of Bronco One Stop is to enhance the student experience with the application process, academic records, financial aid, making payments, speaking with an advisor to register for classes, gaining assistance with degree planning, receiving academic support and navigating university resources.

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The Band Academic Coordinator position is housed within the Bronco One Stop Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Strategic Enrollment and Student Success. The coordinator facilitates academic support for student band members via Bronco One Stop support services and initiatives. This position works closely with multiple offices on campus and provides insight into academic issues surrounding student band members. The coordinator also works collaboratively with relevant constituent groups and individuals, including retention counselors, academic advisors, faculty, band directors, disability support services, and academic support staff to enhance the academic success of student band members.

It is the responsibility of the Band Academic Coordinator to organize, implement, facilitate, oversee and evaluate all facets of the Band Academic Support. Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
This position includes the assignment of up to two UNIV Seminar courses, depending on institutional need.

Minimum

Education And Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:

  • Knowledge of academic policies and requirements, including graduation standards, GPA expectations, credit tracking, and eligibility for extracurricular participation; student support services such as tutoring, academic interventions, study strategies, and accommodations for students with IEPs and 504 plans, compliance and reporting practices, including academic eligibility tracking, documentation, and maintaining confidentiality in accordance with FERPA regulations.
  • Strong advising and mentorship skills by guiding college band students in course selection, degree planning, time management, and personal accountability; effective communication by collaborating with band directors, faculty, academic advisors, and academic support offices while providing clear updates on academic progress and eligibility; organization and time management by supporting a diverse caseload of student musicians and tracking assignments, grades, and institutional requirements;

    data management by monitoring academic performance through university systems and analyzing trends to identify at-risk students; and program coordination by organizing study halls, tutoring services, and academic workshops that align with the demanding schedules of the band program.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify academic risks early and implement effective interventions, while building meaningful relationships that foster trust, accountability, and student growth. The coordinator remains adaptable, adjusting support strategies to meet individual student needs. Additionally, they exhibit strong attention to detail by ensuring accurate academic tracking, maintaining eligibility standards, and upholding all compliance
