POSITION DESCRIPTION
Elementary Art Teacher
Reports to: Principal
Purpose: The Elementary Art Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction in the visual arts that cultivates creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression. The teacher will develop and deliver a standards‑aligned art curriculum that supports students' academic, social, and emotional growth while integrating cross‑curricular connections and fostering an appreciation for the visual arts.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Art Education.
- Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in Art K-12.
Preferred:
- Experience in a middle school or similar educational setting.

Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the North Carolina standards and curriculum.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages artistic exploration, respect, and collaboration.
- Differentiate instruction to meet students' diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
- Exhibit and display student artwork throughout the school and at community events or art shows.
- Manage classroom materials, tools, and art supplies responsibly and maintain an organized, safe, and clean learning environment.
- Incorporate technology and digital tools to enhance student learning and creativity where appropriate.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate art into interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
- Communicate effectively and regularly with students, parents, and school staff regarding student progress, classroom activities, and upcoming projects.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-based committees as required.
- Adhere to district policies, procedures, and the North Carolina Code of Ethics for Educators.
- Support and uphold the mission, vision, and values of Camden County Schools.
- Other duties as assigned by the administration.
