GSL Education Newcastle Branch are supporting schools for nursery and Early Years settings across Durham in finding caring and enthusiastic Nursery Practitioner. We would like to hear from individuals who understand the importance of learning through play and can create positive experiences that support each child’s social, emotional, physical, and educational development.
The Nursery Practitioner helps young children build essential early skills through purposeful activities, daily routines, and responsive care within a stimulating learning environment.
Nursery Practitioner Responsibilities:
- Organise age-appropriate play, creative, and sensory activities
- Encourage children’s early communication, language, and social development
- Observe individual progress and contribute to developmental records
- Create opportunities for children to explore and become more independent
- Maintain a welcoming environment that supports children’s wellbeing and safety
- Liaise with colleagues and families to provide consistent care and learning support
Nursery Practitioner Requirements:
- Relevant Early Years or childcare experience in a school or similar setting
- Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
- Ability to respond appropriately to individual developmental and emotional needs
Confidence engaging young children through play and structured activities - Patient, attentive, and reliable approach to Early Years practice
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
