    Primary Purpose of the Position

    The School of Nursing invites applications for a faculty position to support the development, implementation, and continued growth of Allied Health academic programs, with an initial emphasis on the development and implementation of the University's Respiratory Therapy Program. The successful candidate will provide high quality instruction, contribute to curriculum and program development, participate in accreditation and assessment activities, advise and mentor students, and engage in university and professional service.

    As the University's Allied Health programs expand, the faculty member may support additional allied health disciplines consistent with their education, qualifications, and professional expertise.

    Appointment may be made at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor based on the successful candidate's academic credentials, professional qualifications, experience, and university faculty appointment guidelines.

    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
    • Master's degree in respiratory therapy or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
    • Currently Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
    • Eligibility for applicable state licensure.
    • Demonstrated clinical experience in Respiratory Therapy.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to teach effectively in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical settings.

    Candidates possessing a master's degree may be appointed at the rank of Lecturer
    .

    Candidates possessing an earned doctorate and meeting university faculty appointment standards may be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor
    .

    Final rank will be determined based on academic credentials, professional experience, scholarship, and university appointment criteria.

    Knowledge skills and abilities
    • Knowledge of current Respiratory Therapy practice and education.
    • Knowledge of accreditation standards applicable to Respiratory Therapy programs.
    • Strong instructional and presentation skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to establish collaborative relationships with students, faculty, clinical partners, and community stakeholders.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills.
    • Commitment to student success.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Earned doctorate in Respiratory Therapy or closely related discipline.
    • Previous college or university teaching experience.
    • Experience developing or implementing Respiratory Therapy programs.
    • Experience with accreditation and assessment.
    • Curriculum development experience.
    • Experience using simulation technologies.
    • Evidence of scholarships, presentations, publications, or grant activity.
    • Experience with online instruction and learning management systems.
