Field Engineering Specialist is responsible for operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of the complete spectrum of avionics systems and proprietary communication systems on various single and multi-engine aircraft. Essential functions include:
- Maintains, repairs, tests and/or calibrates various types of aircraft electronic equipment and related devices such as transmitters, amplifiers, receivers, RF distribution equipment, computer controllers, and workstations.
- Applies technical knowledge of electronic principles and strong knowledge in troubleshooting techniques to determine avionics malfunctions and restore aircraft to full operational status.
- Installs and maintains Quick Reaction Capability (QRC) modifications to the aircraft and advises operations and maintenance personnel on their use.
- Performs work in accordance with technical manuals, schematics, engineering drawings, and written/verbal instructions.
- Apply knowledge and understanding of operational procedures, inspection requirements, troubleshooting, and maintenance techniques to aircraft communications/navigation and ancillary electronics systems.
- Utilize a variety of aircraft test equipment, technical publications, and schematics.
- In-depth knowledge of aircraft avionics operation, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection.
- Experience with a wide range of technical reference material from commercial/OEM manuals to blueprints/engineering drawings.
- Must be willing and able to travel between 30-50% both international and domestic.
- Physical requirements of the job include lifting, bending, and climbing.
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Bachelor's Degree with four (4) years of experience with Aircraft avionics operation, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection.
- Graduate Degree with two (2) years of experience with Aircraft avionics operation, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight (8) years of experience with Aircraft avionics operation, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection.
- Must have an active Secret clearance at the time of hire with eligibility to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
