Mechanical Design Engineer

Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in Valve Design for a leading energy and nuclear technology client. This engineer will play a critical role in supporting advanced reactor programs and existing nuclear fleets by driving the design, development, and validation of complex mechanical components. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors to ensure high-quality, efficient designs that meet strict regulatory and performance requirements.

Day-to-Day:

• Design and develop mechanical components, with focus on valve systems
• Create and refine engineering design specifications and concepts
• Generate technical drawings and comprehensive design documentation
• Perform engineering calculations, modeling, and FEA analysis
• Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers on design, fabrication, and testing
• Support procurement efforts with technical expertise
• Provide oversight during component testing and validation
• Lead design reviews and present technical findings to stakeholders
• Coordinate across project managers, engineers, sourcing, and external partners
• Troubleshoot design or equipment issues and implement solutions
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, and safety standards
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
