We have an excellent opportunity for a Design Engineer for our Kidde Business Unit in our Raleigh, NC area. The successful candidate must possess strong product development competencies to support the technical delivery of residential & commercial fire suppression and life safety products. While reporting to the Commercial Engineering Leader, this person will support all facets of project engineering planning and execution activities, including but not limited to, requirements management, product design, testing and verification, cost management and product commercialization.
The successful candidate must be organized, systematic, and capable of sustained and independent work. They should be experienced executing under a stage‑gate product development process.
- Design and develop quality solutions for the Kidde fire suppression long range portfolio, while achieving cost, schedule, and performance/reliability targets
- Support the technical development & integration of key or emerging technology opportunities that enable product differentiation.
- Maintain proactive technical support for the Kidde Matamoros fire extinguisher manufacturing site, global partners and suppliers as required for associated projects
- Travel up to 25% including but not limited to USA, Mexico, Europe, and China.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical / Engineering discipline
- 3+ years’ experience in product development within high volume consumer or commercial spaces
- 2+ years’ experience in product design within a regulated industry
- Due to contractual agreements, must be a US citizen, green card holder, or permanent resident
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Demonstrated experience supporting a project from concept to commercialization
- Demonstrated experience applying DfSS principles to product design
- Proficient with Solid Works
- Proficient with Windchill PLM
- Proficient with CAE tools including FEA & CFD
- Proficient with ERP systems, preferably JD Edwards
- Proficient in Microsoft O365, including Excel, PowerPoint, & One Note
- Strong verbal and written technical communication skills
- Ability to prepare and deliver key internal/external presentations
- The candidate must be proficient in spoken and written English
