- Supervises staff in the Accounts Receivable and Payable sections; reviews work performed by staff to ensure accuracy and adherence to county policy
- Performs a variety of administrative duties associated with supervising staff to include assigning work; providing training, direction and guidance, establishing performance expectations; and reviewing and evaluating work
- Prepare and execute monthly payments to Fayetteville Technical Community College and Cumberland County Board of Education current expense funds
- Prepare and execute quarterly payments to Alliance Health
- Provides support and processes bi-weekly payroll for the Fayetteville Cumberland County Economic Development Corporation and the Fayetteville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, Inc
- Responsible for generating county check run by selecting invoices for payment based on invoice due date criteria
- Prepare and reconcile use tax owed and submit related monthly/quarterly report and maintain record of payments
- Completes a monthly analysis of Finance department budget to actual comparison
- Completes Register of Deeds Supplemental Pension fund report, the Conveyance Tax Return NC payable to the NC Department of Revenue, the Register of Deeds Fee payable to the Local Government Commission, monthly
- Manages administrative functions of assigned office, overseeing and performing a variety of tasks to relieve department head of day-to-day operational details
Graduation from an accredited two-year college or technical school with a degree in business or related field and four (4) years of experience with at least two years in a supervisory role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and procedures, and of state and local fiscal regulations, policies, and procedures
- Knowledge and experience using Excel
- Knowledge of terminology and related professional languages used within the department as such pertains to work responsibilities. Ability to assist in interpreting and analyzing accounting data and applying that analysis to the departmental needs and determine compliance with pertinent guidelines, rules, regulations, and laws
- Knowledge of supervisory practices and skill in supervising others, including communication skills, how to delegate and assign duties, how to deal with difficult employees, and how to evaluate performance
- Ability to maintain a positive, supportive attitude in a team environment; maintains cooperative and effective relationships with intra- and interdepartmental personnel, as well as any external entities with whom position interacts
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with representatives of related contact agencies, departmental staff, and the public
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form
- Ability to act with integrity and maintain a high level of confidentiality
