SummaryThe MRI Technologist is fully competent to perform all MRI routine procedures for the diagnostic treatment of specified diseases or conditions.
Responsibilities- Fully competent to perform all routine procedures designated within the MRI Section of Radiology Department.
- Demonstrate competency and efficiency in the treatment, care of, and interaction with all patients of any age, including neo-natal, newborns, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
- Fully competent in the technical operation of all equipment designated in this area.
- Assess and clear patients for MRI safety; review physician orders or patient charts for appropriate order, diagnosis, and physician signature; confirm the signed Patient MRI Interview Form.
- Prepare patients for the procedure, answer any questions or refer questions to the assigned radiologist.
- Begin and end procedures in the computer system to ensure proper billing and maintain department productivity.
- Maintain accurate records of patients and a safe environment, including magnetic field exposure, infection control guidelines, and Universal Precautions.
- Maintain required credentialing and registry; complete annual mandatory hospital training.
- Maintain good guest relations with patients, visitors, hospital staff, and medical staff, using AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation & Thank you).
- Actively participate in the clinical education of student technologists, as dependent on shift and work location.
ARRT Registered or a Graduate from an Associate in Applied Science in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), required. AHA CPR provided by Cape Fear Valley Training and Development is required at orientation and must be maintained. Any applicant not registered as an ARRT in MRI must provide documentation of application with the ARRT to sit for the MRI registry. Registered in MRI with the ARRT is required post one (1) year of hiring date.
Failure to achieve registration post one (1) year will result in termination of employment.
At least 1 year of experience required.
