IT Business Systems Analyst III
Position Number: 500423
Location: ECU main campus, Greenville, NC
Salary Range: $81,434 - $101,000
Responsibilities- Serve as the primary functional and technical liaison between ECU functional offices (POSO, Payroll, Budget), UNC System stakeholders, and ITCS for the Ellucian Banner HR/Payroll system.
- Analyze business processes, configure and support Banner HR/Payroll, and work with functional users to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with State of North Carolina and UNC System regulations.
- Lead complex business analysis and requirements gathering, independently identifying functional needs, risks, and improvement opportunities and translating them into clear specifications for Banner and related technical solutions.
- Assist with system configuration and maintenance of Banner HR and Payroll setup, including jobs, positions, earnings, deductions, labor distribution, and leave accruals.
- Provide daily production support, troubleshoot payroll errors, labor redistribution issues, job submissions, and interface problems, coordinating with ITCS technical teams, Finance systems, and Ellucian as needed.
- Create and maintain clear, accurate documentation for Banner-related technical processes, integrations, configurations, data flows, customizations, and operational procedures.
- Lead and support change management activities related to Banner HR/Payroll system enhancements, regulatory updates, and process improvements.
- Plan and support quality assurance (QA) and user acceptance testing (UAT) for Banner-related technical processes, including integrations, configurations, and system changes.
- Perform light programming and technical analysis, develop and maintain queries, scripts, and controlled data processes to support reporting, troubleshooting, and operational needs.
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be from accredited institutions.
Preferred Experience , Skills, and Training- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field.
- Strong functional knowledge of Banner HR/Payroll modules.
- Understanding of payroll processing, benefits, labor distribution, and year‑end processing.
- Proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline‑driven environment.
- Experience testing and evaluating the impact of Banner upgrades and patches.
- Experience supporting system integrations and data interfaces.
- Demonstrated experience in testing, QA, and production support processes.
- Exposure to change management and user training in enterprise systems.
