Position OverviewThe Material Expediter (HAZMAT) processes truck loads (TLs), less than truck loads (LTLs), air clearances, and small package shipments using systems such as CMOS, ETA, and TGET. Responsibilities include verifying transportation account codes, coordinating with commercial carriers, selecting low‑cost transportation service providers, confirming shipments, processing commercial bills of lading, and handling hazardous and ammunition shipments.
Responsibilities- Assist in developing load plans as required.
- Verify shipment requests are properly completed.
- Provide technical expertise to units.
- Ensure accurate cost estimates are given to units/customers.
- Process hazardous material and sensitive item shipments.
- Contact transportation service providers to ensure zero defects.
- Release sensitive item shipments appropriately.
- Check commercial bills of lading daily for timely submission into SYNCADA.
- Prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Work well under pressure with tight deadlines.
- Perform other duties and assignments as required.
- Work conditions may include inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, sand and dust, confined spaces, and work at heights while standing for long periods.
- Mobilization may require an uncommon tour of duty, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Extensive customer interaction is required.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed and cross‑train as directed.
- Move throughout assigned areas.
- Daily walking or standing, frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
- Lift a minimum of 10 lbs and a maximum of 50 lbs unassisted.
- Wear personal protective equipment as designed.
Minimum Education / Certification
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Hazardous Materials Certification (HAZMAT) required; must obtain and maintain within six months of start.
- Valid REAL‑ driver’s license with no restrictions.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a NACI Tier 1 Public Trust.
- Proof of U.S. citizenship (e.g., birth certificate or passport).
- Maintain driving privileges aboard the Fort Bragg installation.
Experience
- 3–5 years transportation experience.
- 3–5 years in a leadership position.
- Effective organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact with all levels of leadership and communicate across the organizational structure.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Leadership skills are a plus.
- Understanding of contractual requirements to ensure delivery of positive results in relation to the PWS’s scope.
