Description:
Cross-posting after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out on-site. Any call-offs or additional time off requests may result in cancellations. The unit expects a patient-to-nurse ratio of 5-6:1, which can flex up to 7:1 in extreme cases. The unit will accept contracts for 13 weeks. Weekend coverage is required, with every other weekend expected. If a nurse calls out on a weekend, they will be required to make up that time on a weekend.
The patient population includes orthopedic, neuro spine, medical-surgical, and post-surgical patients. The average daily census is approximately 37, with a total of 39 beds available. Covid patients are no longer cohorted; all patients confirmed positive for Covid are taken care of on their respective units. This is a fast-paced unit that requires nurses to manage pain effectively due to a high post-surgical and orthopedic population.
Candidates must be able to float to other medical-surgical units as needed. Nurses are expected to be customer service-oriented and proficient in managing multiple pain medications. All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty.
