We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with a background in Communicable Disease, STI, or Epidemiology (EPI) programs to join a busy Public Health Department for a 13-week contract assignment beginning August 10, 2026.
This is a unique opportunity for an RN who enjoys investigative work, public health initiatives, disease surveillance, and community health. While this position is based within a clinic environment, it is primarily a non-patient care role focused on communicable disease investigations, case management, interviews, surveillance, reporting, and follow-up activities.

Interview Requirement: Virtual interview with facility leadership
Conduct communicable disease investigations and surveillance activities.
Interview patients regarding STI and other communicable disease exposures.
Perform case follow-up and coordinate public health response activities.
Collaborate with healthcare providers, community partners, and public health teams.
Monitor, track, and manage disease reporting requirements.
Maintain accurate records and data related to investigations and surveillance efforts.
Support public health initiatives and outbreak response activities.
Assist with tuberculosis (TB) program activities as needed.
Participate in team-based clinic operations and public health projects.
The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced public health environment and possess:
Previous experience in Communicable Disease, STI, Epidemiology (EPI), or Public Health Nursing
Strong investigative and interviewing skills
Excellent communication and critical-thinking abilities
Experience managing multiple cases, deadlines, and competing priorities
Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and urgent situations
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Previous Communicable Disease, STI, or Epidemiology experience required
Current certifications as required by state and facility guidelines
