Position: Registered Nurse – Communicable Disease Clinic (STI/EPI)

Registered Nurse (RN) – Communicable Disease Clinic (STI/EPI) 13-Week Contract | 40 Hours/Week | Public Health

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with a background in Communicable Disease, STI, or Epidemiology (EPI) programs to join a busy Public Health Department for a 13-week contract assignment beginning August 10, 2026.

This is a unique opportunity for an RN who enjoys investigative work, public health initiatives, disease surveillance, and community health. While this position is based within a clinic environment, it is primarily a non-patient care role focused on communicable disease investigations, case management, interviews, surveillance, reporting, and follow-up activities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct communicable disease investigations and surveillance activities.

  • Interview patients regarding STI and other communicable disease exposures.

  • Perform case follow-up and coordinate public health response activities.

  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, community partners, and public health teams.

  • Monitor, track, and manage disease reporting requirements.

  • Maintain accurate records and data related to investigations and surveillance efforts.

  • Support public health initiatives and outbreak response activities.

  • Assist with tuberculosis (TB) program activities as needed.

  • Participate in team-based clinic operations and public health projects.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced public health environment and possess:

  • Previous experience in Communicable Disease, STI, Epidemiology (EPI), or Public Health Nursing

  • Strong investigative and interviewing skills

  • Excellent communication and critical-thinking abilities

  • Experience managing multiple cases, deadlines, and competing priorities

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and urgent situations

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills

  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams

Minimum Requirements
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

  • Previous Communicable Disease, STI, or Epidemiology experience required

  • Current certifications as required by state and facility guidelines
