Summary ofJob Duties
The Lab Manager will help us establish a new lab, supervise students, and contribute to research projects.
Duties include:
Reading and following all SOP s and manuals, operating biochemical instruments, writing and organizing SOP s and chemical/sample inventories, working with the safety office to follow proper procedures, perform weekly safety checks, organizing and maintaining the lab and equipment cleanliness, and ordering supplies for the lab, maintaining and recording in the lab notebook daily, and completing a weekly report of all lab activities.
The position will require training students in basic lab skills and techniques and making sure they are following safety procedures. Ability to use algebra, skilled with Excel and data analysis, and learn new techniques on a daily basis is required. The job requires careful handling and understanding of how to work with sensitive samples, and superior skills in aseptic technique is necessary.
Sterile mammalian cell culture, protein purification, and performing general biochemical and cellular experiments is central to this position. Data collection, creating figures for publications, contributions to writing the publication will be expected. A professional, friendly attitude with a willingness to learn and a strong work ethic is expected.
This is a 11-month appointment, renewable based on the need for the position, availability of funding, and continued satisfactory level of performance in the role.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications

- At least two years experience in a biochemistry or physiology lab
