Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on electrical support equipment.
  • Installs or repairs electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating/AC units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.
  • Performs electrical trade functions related to generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.
  • Tests, repairs, overhauls, modifies and maintains electrical equipment of a specialized nature (e.g., automatic alternator synchronizing equipment, amplifying control units, voltage regulating equipment, generators, switching and control panels, junction boxes) in motor vehicles.
  • Diagnose system malfunctions, isolate causes, and correct deficiencies. Dismantle and reassemble equipment using Technical Manuals (TMs) and/or Electronic Technical Manuals (ETMs).
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications; locate and diagnose trouble in electrical systems; perform load calculations; use electrician's hand tools and testing instruments.
  • Research and requisition materials; prepare necessary documents and reports.
  • Dispose of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.
  • Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements.
Material & Equipment Directly Used
  • Extensive use of basic shop equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, air tools, and lifting devices.
  • Steel-toed shoes are required.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas. PPE includes, but is not limited to: face mask, head, foot, hand, vision and hearing protection devices.
  • Periodic use of computer systems and multifunction devices (MFD).
Working Environment
  • Work is generally conducted in a shop environment; duties may involve outdoor work with exposure to extreme climatic conditions.
  • Stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and occasional working in cramped and awkward positions.
  • Frequent exposure to inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing sand and dust, confined spaces, and heights.
  • Normal work week is 40 hours (5 days). Must be willing to work additional hours when mission requires.
Physical Activities
  • Climb ladders and stairs; bend, twist, and squat for prolonged periods.
  • Pull, push, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Function in adverse environmental conditions.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) to six (6) years of experience in electrical maintenance or equivalent.
  • Successful passage of a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Valid REAL  Driver’s License with no restrictions.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Must obtain and maintain a NACI Tier 1 Public Trust.
  • Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship (birth certificate or U.S. Passport).
  • Must be able to maintain driving privileges aboard the Fort Bragg Installation.
Experience
  • Proficient in servicing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment.
  • Familiar with the use of electronic technical manuals.
  • Applicant must furnish their own serviceable, OSHA-compliant tools appropriate for duties. Tools must meet OSHA Regulations 1910 Subpart P.
