The Maintenance Trades Helper performs general labor duties, operates support equipment and assists other workers to complete non-technical tasks associated with assigned requirements.
ResponsibilitiesThis position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.
MAJOR JOBACTIVITIES:
- Assists in keeping technicians supplied with materials and tools.
- Cleans working areas, tools, machines, and equipment.
- Performs entry-level tasks as directed by technician.
- Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements.
- May be required to operate vehicles and materiel handling equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.
- May perform work in conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing sand and dust, and working in confined spaces and at heights.
- Employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
- Personal Protection Equipment may be required to include a face mask.

- Specific contractual requirements regarding education and experience prevail where applicable.
ACTIVITIES:
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Work requires stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolong sitting and occasional working in cramped and awkward position.
- A normal work week is 40 hours (5 days a week).
- May be required to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and overtime as mission requires.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in a trade.
- Must have a valid REAL Driver's License with no restrictions
- Experience or familiarity in automotive maintenance trades is preferred.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Must be able to pass a standard background check.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI Tier 1 Public Trust.
- Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, such as a birth certificate or a U.S. Passport.
- Must be able to maintain driving privileges aboard the Fort Bragg Installation.
- Knowledge/awareness of safety issues and ability to perform duties in strict compliance with OSHA rules.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in a trade preferred.
- Must be responsive, reliable, detail-oriented, punctual, have good judgment and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently with little supervisory direction and as a team player.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in English (written, oral and/or diagram form).
- Ability to interact with both co-workers and clients in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to work productively with other staff in the workplace.
- Experience or familiarity in automotive maintenance trades is preferred.
