Shipfitters Needed | $45/HR + $140 Daily Per Diem Opportunities Available in Goose Creek, SC & Newport News, VA

What You'll Be DoingAs a Ship fitter, you'll play a critical role in the fabrication and assembly of structural components used in ship construction and repair. You'll work from blueprints and technical drawings to ensure precise fit-up, alignment, and assembly before welding operations begin.
Key ResponsibilitiesRead and interpret blueprints, sketches, and job specification
Lay out, position, fit, and assemble steel components and ship structures
Prepare materials through grinding, straightening, drilling, reaming, deburring, and other fabrication techniques
Set up and align parts to ensure proper fit and dimensional accuracy
Perform tack welding when required to secure components
Correct distortions and perform rework to maintain required tolerances
Inspect completed work and verify quality standards are met
Work safely and efficiently in a production shipyard environment
Partner with welders, fabricators, and production teams to meet project schedules
Minimum 3 years of Ship fitter experience in a shipyard environment
Strong blueprint and drawing interpretation skills
Experience with structural fit-up, alignment, and assembly
Familiarity with shipbuilding fabrication tools and equipment
Ability to work to tight tolerances and quality standards
Previous experience with tack welding and weld preparation
Strong understanding of shipyard safety practices
Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and correct fabrication issues
This is a Contract position based out of Fayetteville, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
