Software Engineer, Senior​/Fayetteville, NC

Lockheed Martin’s SOF GLSS Team is seeking a Software Engineer to join the SOF GLSS team in Fayetteville, NC. The candidate will perform classified duties supporting multiple Special Operations groups.

• Plans, conducts, and coordinates MS SQL development activities. Designs, develops, documents, and defines database architecture for new and existing software applications.
• Applies appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle.
• Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software in business/mission applications and information processing techniques.
• Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition.

• Expertise in at least one major language:
  Java, Python, C#, JavaScript/Type Script, Go, C++, Ruby.
• Clean code practices such as SOLID, DRY, KISS.
• Data structures & algorithms experience (arrays, linked lists, trees, graphs, hashing, sorting, dynamic programming).
• System design & architecture experience: scalable distributed systems, load balancing, caching, queues, RESTful APIs or Graph
  
  QL, microservices architecture.
• Database proficiency with SQL databases (Postgre
  
  SQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and No
  
  SQL databases (Mongo
  
  DB, Dynamo
  
  DB, Redis); query optimization and schema design.
• Cloud & Dev Ops fundamentals: experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP), CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions, Jenkins, Git Lab CI), containerization and orchestration.
• U.S. citizenship required; government security clearance required.

• Advanced system design: event‑driven architectures, distributed computing principles, high‑scale systems (millions of users).
• Dev Ops & infrastructure: infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, Cloud Formation), logging, monitoring, observability (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog).
• Security knowledge: secure coding practices (OWASP), identity & access management (OAuth, JWT).
• Frontend knowledge for full‑stack roles:
  React, Angular, Vue, UI performance optimization.
• AI/ML or data engineering exposure: machine learning basics or pipelines, data streaming frameworks (Kafka, Kinesis).
• Performance & optimization: profiling tools (Perf, Jaeger, Chrome Dev Tools, JProfiler), database performance tuning.
• Soft skills:
  
  ownership mindset, conflict resolution & team support, prioritization and roadmap planning, cross‑functional collaboration with QA, Product, UX.

• Security Clearance Statement:
