Software Engineer
We are seeking a Project Manager to provide hands‑on project management and technical development/integration support for XVIII Airborne Corps solutions. This role requires someone comfortable owning the day‑to‑day of running software projects (think managing timelines, coordinating across engineering teams, engaging with stakeholders, and keeping work moving) while also being curious and eager to grow. You'll have the opportunity to learn and apply structured discovery and framing approaches (inspired by Pivotal Labs / Tanzu methodology and utilized by the Army Software Factory) alongside Agile delivery practices.
The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in ambiguity, is technically fluent enough to engage meaningfully with developers, and is genuinely excited about understanding complex problem spaces while driving mission‑critical projects forward.
NOTE:
This position is a hybrid role, requiring 2 days per week on‑site at Fort Bragg, NC. Additionally, you must be a US citizen who is eligible for a security clearance.
Project Management & Coordination:
- Support development and coordination of briefing materials, status reports, and decision documents
- Manage individual line items and tasks within larger project frameworks to ensure alignment with objectives and timelines
- Identify process flow obstacles and recommend corrective actions or process optimizations to maintain project momentum
- Own the cadence and rhythm of your projects (standups, retros, stakeholder syncs) while keeping teams aligned and unblocked
- Participate in and, over time, lead Scoping, Discovery, and Framing processes for new initiatives
- Elicit and document requirements for new projects
- Create roadmaps and user stories that bridge stakeholder intent and development execution
- Apply Agile methodologies adapted to meet specific mission requirements
- Contribute to evolving team best practices for project management
- Work closely with engineering teams on backlog refinement, sprint planning, and technical trade‑off discussions
- Understand and communicate technical constraints, dependencies, and architecture decisions to non‑technical stakeholders
- Navigate tools and platforms used by the development team (Git/Git Lab, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure) with confidence
- Advocate with Army stakeholders while maintaining collaborative relationships
- Deliver clear presentations and facilitate stakeholder meetings
- Balance team needs with organizational objectives
- Must be a US citizen who is eligible for a security clearance
- 4+ years of project management experience in a software development environment
- Working knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or similar)
- Demonstrated comfort working alongside engineers; you can follow technical conversations, ask the right questions, and speak credibly about software delivery
- Experience with web‑based application development life cycles
- Solid presentation and communication skills
- Experience eliciting requirements and contributing to discovery processes
- Familiarity with creating roadmaps and user stories in tools like Git Lab, Jira, or similar
- Ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize work
- Applicable 4‑year college degree and/or relevant certifications (PMP, CSPO, Pragmatic Institute, etc.)
- Previous experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, Azure) and/or data engineering
- Exposure to Lean/XP‑inspired product development practices (Pivotal Labs, Tanzu, or similar balanced‑team methodologies)
- Enthusiasm for learning complex problem domains
The successful candidate will be a reliable, organized project manager who has lived in software teams and can run the day‑to‑day with confidence, and who is also genuinely open to learning new ways of working. You don't need to have led a team of PMs or have all the answers; you need to be comfortable navigating ambiguity, asking good questions, and growing into structured discovery and framing practices with support from the team around you.
You should be the kind of PM who earns developer trust by understanding what they're building, communicates clearly with stakeholders, and cares about translating technical solutions into actionable outcomes.
Our Cenith team at Fort Bragg is a collection of experienced, highly competent, mission‑focused people who are also easy‑going, humble, and fun to be around. If this sounds like you, please reach out!
Interview Loop for Selected Candidates- 1-3 hour take‑home exercise (3-4 written questions to answer)
- 2-hour interview split between PMs and Developers (internal and Army)
