Salary
: $29.91 per hour
After 20 full‑day clerical assignments have been completed, the salary increases to $31.48 per hour for the year.
Position Summary
:
Guest clerical assistants are responsible for a variety of general office duties, including filing, photocopying, greeting guests, answering phones and providing back‑up for other office staff.
- Greet and assist students, staff, parents, and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner
- Answer telephone calls, provide accurate information, route calls appropriately, and take messages as needed
- Provide clerical support to office staff, including word processing, filing, copying, scanning, and distribution of materials
- Sort, distribute, and process incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries
- Maintain organized office systems and assist with general office operations
- Supervise students who are visiting the office area, ensuring appropriate behavior and safety
- Provide backup support in the health room, including assisting with basic care for ill or injured students and contacting parents/guardians when necessary, in accordance with established procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information at all times
- Follow district policies, office procedures, and safety protocols
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Office Manager or site administration
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of six (6) months of secretarial or clerical experience or successful completion of a district‑administered clerical skills assessment, including a typing score of at least 35 words per minute
Minimum of six (6) months of experience working with the public, demonstrating strong customer service skills
Additional RequirementsBasic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Basic knowledge of Outlook
Moderate‑level typing speed
Condition of EmploymentCriminal background clearance
Complete basic synergy course provided through the District’s continuous learning center
Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis
Accept at least three assignments a month

- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including proper telephone etiquette
- Use email systems, modern office equipment, and standard computer software; learn and apply district technology systems
- Follow written and verbal instructions accurately
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public in a diverse community
- Remain flexible, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to frequent interruptions and changing priorities
- Respond calmly and professionally to challenging or sensitive situations, including interactions with upset individuals
- Collaborate effectively with coworkers and contribute to a team‑oriented work environment
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate ethical and professional conduct
- Comply with district policies, procedures, and safety protocols

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly stand and walk, bend neck and back, use hands for repetitive grasping and pushing/pulling. The employee may occasionally be required to squat, kneel, and use hands for fine manipulation. The employee will constantly be required to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer screen and keyboard, and occasionally be required to climb stairs/ladder, lift and reach overhead, crawl, and lift/carry.
