Position Summary

The mission at Truman Campus is to provide access to three innovative small school programs on one caring campus. The campus offers Career Academy, Open Doors, and Internet Academy, serving students K‑12 with individualized learning plans and real‑world opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership

  • Establish a mission and vision focused on shared goals and high expectations for all students.
  • Create and promote a culture of belonging and inclusivity where all students, families, and staff feel valued and cared for through wraparound services and positive academic and/or behavioral supports as needed.
  • Promote an environment that fosters high expectations for students, staff, and self.
  • Facilitate collaborative processes leading toward continuous improvement.
  • Lead inclusive programming for special education and English as a second language qualified students and other exceptionality.

Implement rigorous standards‑based curricula and assessments.

  • Create a vision of powerful teaching and learning, with an urgency to provide a strong foundation for all students to thrive academically and socially.
  • Recognize the importance of setting high expectations for self, staff, and students in the implementation and delivery of standards‑based curricula.
  • Assist staff in implementing and aligning curricula to state and district standards.
  • Create and monitor systems that ensure teachers utilize formative assessments to adjust instruction for improved student learning.
  • Design and implement horizontally and vertically integrated academic systems and structures with an equity and inclusion lens to accelerate student growth.

Use relevant data to design, implement, and evaluate an aligned strategic plan.

  • Develop and monitor a School Improvement Plan that drives continuous improvement and aligns with the District Improvement Plan.
  • Regularly lead and participate in data‑driven conversations with teachers to review student‑level data, discuss instructional implications, and build capacity.
  • Locate, analyze, and interpret multiple data sources to inform continuous school‑level improvement efforts.
  • Assist staff in identifying and implementing proven instructional practices aligned with state and District learning goals.
  • Ensure that data for diverse student populations are available to all teachers, disaggregated, and with next steps clearly defined.
  • Provide evidence of student growth aligned with the school improvement planning process.

Ensuring School Safety

  • Implement a school safety plan based on open communication systems and responsive to needs and changing circumstances.
  • Take responsibility for culturally responsive practices that maximize the social, emotional, and intellectual safety of all students.
  • Supervise student discipline and welfare and maintain records of individual disciplinary actions.
  • Coordinate student discipline and welfare with parent/guardian, teacher, and support personnel.
  • Supervise attendance and truancy matters.
  • Coordinate student activities with instructional goals.
  • Assist counselors and teachers in promoting and maintaining appropriate classroom management.

Strategic and Organizational Leadership

  • Strategically manage resources to support student learning and staff development priorities.
  • Manage both staff and fiscal resources to support student learning.
  • Analyze instructional employees’ knowledge, skills and abilities and provide or direct professional development opportunities.
  • Utilize staffing and scheduling practices to maximize instructional time.
  • Ensure a safe and positive learning environment where learning and teaching are focused.
  • Leverage all resources for continuous improvement.

Manager of Talent – Teaching Effectiveness

  • Monitor instruction and assessment practices, critique teacher performance, and implement growth strategies.
