Position OverviewKiewit Infrastructure Engineering is seeking a dynamic Experienced Structural Engineer for our Temporary Works Group. The candidate will support all aspects of the construction process by performing innovative design engineering, reviewing structural calculations, developing plans, scheduling tasks, and mitigating risk to keep construction crews safe.
We support design‑build tasks that include: bridge erection & demolition, cofferdam design, critical crane lifts, erection sequencing & staged construction analysis, hoisting and jacking, deep foundations and dewatering, excavation support, marine engineering, pile drive analysis, ductwork analysis, falsework design, temporary bridge & trestle, estimate support, working surface design, and on‑site engineering support.

Responsibilities- Develop drawings and calculations for temporary works and construction methods.
- Prepare heavy lift plans including site logistics, equipment selection, geometry/feasibility studies, design of custom rigging and lifting devices, hoisting and jacking systems, custom tools, crane pad/work‑surface designs.
- Create erection procedures or planned sequences for construction or demolition operations.
- Evaluate existing structures for construction loads and/or demolition planning.
- Perform structural analysis to ensure stability during temporary conditions of new bridges, viaducts, buildings, tunnels, and other structures.
- Support excavation systems or cofferdams for construction below grade.
- Design temporary bridges, trestles, work platforms, fall protection systems, formwork, and other features.
- Perform or review calculations and design drawings per industry codes, standards, client design criteria, and structural theories.
- Ensure quality and accuracy of design deliverables.
- Identify design risks and assist with risk mitigation planning.
- Assist in project management: budgets, schedules, quality control, and coordination/communication with clients.
- Provide on‑site design engineering support, inspections, training, and mentoring E.I.T.s.
- Experience with temporary structures and/or construction engineering.
- Accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering;
Master’s degree or higher preferred. - 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer licensure or eligibility in the United States.
- Strong academic knowledge of structural engineering.
- Experience with engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Blue Beam, MathCAD, Navisworks, RISA‑3D.
- Team‑working experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Ability to organize and handle multiple project assignments.
- Ability to travel/TDY assignments and/or relocate as needed.
- Ability to operate safely in diverse climates and environments.
- Regular, reliable attendance.
- Meet deadlines and work productively.
- Effective professional communication with supervisors, employees, and teams.
- Follow safety policies and instructions.
- Work normal operating hours and be available for overtime and weekends as required.

Base Salary: $110,000 – $140,000 (Subject to variation based on education, experience, skillset, and location).
