General Function

Assists in the execution of financial analysis and business improvement in support of capital adequacy processes, including Comprehensive Capital Analysis & Review (CCAR), and enterprise-wide stress testing. Supports all Fifth Third Bancorp lines of business, this role assists in the coordination of Fifth Third’s capital planning processes, providing value‑added analysis and process improvement recommendations. Supports quality assurance and business controls, promotes risk management principles, and maintains compliance with policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Understands key business factors that impact capital planning processes and maintains up‑to‑date knowledge of industry issues.
  • Collects, aggregates and analyzes forecasted financials and supporting documentation across the Bancorp.
  • Provides documentation of financial plans and analysis for senior management meetings, evaluating and improving report design and analytical tools.
  • Performs maintenance on existing schedules and reports for information changes.
  • Prepares and analyzes reports for all lines of business and affiliates and documents unusual items.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with Finance, Risk and LOB personnel to support enterprise‑wide capital planning activities.
  • Collaborates with line‑of‑business participants and central process teams to improve the control environment of the capital planning process.
  • Supports process‑improvement initiatives to drive consistency and sustainability within capital planning.
  • Assists with guidance to stress‑test participants in updating control documentation, including process flows, approval templates, and policies.
  • Verifies and documents compliance with risk management/control frameworks relevant to Fifth Third’s Capital Planning Process.
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance the Capital Adequacy Process and participates in resolution of issues.
  • Provides recommendations and action plans to mitigate observed risks.
  • Attends meetings with peers to maintain knowledge of current and emerging risks.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Bachelor’s degree required. MBA, CFA or CPA preferred; GAAP knowledge strongly desired.
  • Typically requires zero to two years of accounting or finance related experience.
  • Proficient with MS‑Windows and related PC applications.
  • Ability to learn automated data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills for interacting with personnel at all levels.
  • Proficient with performance‑measurement tools and technology.
  • Works individually and as part of a team.
  • Maintains professional composure in a dynamic environment that requires managing multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and applies logical/critical thinking.
