Position: Specialist I, Payroll Tax

General Purpose of the Job

This position assists the payroll tax team to ensure our systems are updated and accurate for teammate tax set up. This includes performing daily tax audits, completing tax registrations and responding to teammate tax questions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform daily tax audits to identify teammate taxes that need to be updated
  • Troubleshoot teammate tax withholding issues as needed and respond to teammate tax questions
  • Input tax set‑up and adjustments into Workday for accurate teammate tax withholding
  • Provide tax deposit amounts to Corporate Treasury as scheduled
  • Facilitate new tax filings and registrations
    • Verify and ensure that the company is registered in all tax jurisdictions where teammates are located
    • Ensure new payroll companies are added to the payroll tax vendor system and that all tax jurisdictions are accounted for
    • Verify that all teammates are taxed in the correct jurisdiction(s)
  • Ensure acquired facilities are registered to do business in tax jurisdictions; coordinate as necessary with the Corporate Tax department
  • Distribute tax mail
  • Maintain tax logs of open tax filing notices, reporting action items and resolutions to management at regular intervals
  • Document processes
  • Respond to teammate tax questions
  • Other duties as assigned
    • Potential for working overtime with little or no notice as needed
    • Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed
    • Know, understand, and follow teammate guidelines, employment policies, and department or company procedures
Education and Experience

Required

  • 0-2 years of experience
  • High school diploma
  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and Outlook

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area
  • One year payroll experience
  • One year of Workday Payroll System
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification)
Travel and Time Requirements
  • Travel:
    Extremely limited
  • Work Schedule:

    Ability to flex schedule (work hours) to support business need, including the ability to work occasional nights, early mornings and weekends
  • Overtime:
    On occasion as needed up to 5%

The Wage Range for the role is $22.50-$28.50 per hour. If a candidate is hired, they will be paid at least the minimum wage according to their geographical jurisdiction and the exemption status for the position. Washington Exempt: $80,168.40/year. Washington Non-exempt:
Bellingham: $19.13/hour, Burien: $21.63/hour, Everette: $20.77/hour, Unincorporated King County: $20.82/hour, Renton: $21.57/hour, Seattle: $21.30/hour, Tukwila: $21.65/hour, Remainder of Washington state: $17.13/hour.
