Beyond housing, we operate a retail furniture store to raise funding for our mission, and a cafe which serves as part of our job skills training program, providing opportunities for skill-building and empowerment.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our team and help support the financial health of our organization. This role is essential to ensuring accurate financial operations, compliance with non-profit accounting regulations, and delivering high-quality financial reports. Working with our CPA firm, our Financial Accountant will manage bookkeeping, oversee accounts payable and receivable, and play a key role in supporting FUSION's mission of empowering families in need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general ledger, perform account reconciliations, record journal entries, and ensure the integrity of all financial data.
  • Assist in the development of the annual organizational budget. Monitor monthly budget-to-actual performance, analyze variances, and provide reports to department managers.
  • Manage financial aspects of grants, including budget preparation for proposals, tracking restricted and unrestricted funds, and preparing financial reports for funders in compliance with grant agreements.
  • Responsible for posting all ACH transactions, processing invoices and payments to vendors, and reconciling and paying credit card bills.
  • Responsible for entering all donations into the donor database, making weekly deposits, and issuing monthly and quarterly billings. Ensuring timely collection of receivables and accurate recording of revenue.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for the annual external audit. Ensure compliance with GAAP, FASB, and other non-profit accounting standards and regulations, including IRS Form 990 preparation support.
  • Process payroll and manage related journal entries and reconciliations in collaboration with HR.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficiency in Quick Books, Excel, and other financial management tools relevant for non-profits.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles and practices specific to non-profit organizations.
  • Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to resolving financial discrepancies.
  • Meticulous in handling financial data to ensure accuracy and integrity in all reports and records.
  • Excellent ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • A strong team player with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different departments, as well as with external partners and auditors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • A genuine passion for our mission and a desire to contribute to a positive and collaborative work culture.

Fusion is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team.
