Summary

This position develops, supports, maintains, and administers District endpoint management systems, processes, and configurations; develops and maintains District software images for computing hardware; creates software distribution packages for Districtwide client updates and site deployments; defines and implements client configurations and settings; develops and maintains District Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to manage client environments; evaluates and troubleshoots client image systems, configurations, and task sequences and recommends improvements;

conducts feasibility studies and presents findings and recommendations; collaborates with software vendors, District Network Team members, and Field Technicians to resolve issues and implement Districtwide changes in accordance with District policy; and develops and maintains scripts and automated deployment processes to improve the efficiency, consistency, and security of District endpoint management operations.

Essential Job Functions
  • Develop and maintain all District client images for desktop, laptop, and mobile devices; manage client images using endpoint management software and scripting languages; track all client software, known web services, and server-based applications in use throughout the District; and work closely with the Senior Network Administrator to develop and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) within Active Directory (AD).
  • Test, configure, document, and update client images; create workstation image files (WIMs) for standard Windows and other operating systems; ensure applications are stable and function effectively with web- and server-based applications; maintain current documentation to identify and assess application compatibility impacts; and review hardware additions or changes that may affect client images.
  • Develop, update, manage, and maintain task sequences; review, assess, and analyze log files within endpoint management systems; monitor and maintain client software lifecycle management processes; and recommend software lifecycle upgrades and enhancements, as necessary, to Technology Services leadership.
  • Develop software deployment packages for Districtwide distribution; ensure packages are thoroughly tested to minimize disruption in the field; ensure current and up-to-date images are available for deployment by District Field Technicians; develop and maintain a software tracking matrix for all software and services deployed throughout the District, including current requirements related to PC images; and work with the Senior Network Administrator to manage endpoint management platforms.
  • Work closely with the assigned administrator of the endpoint management systems to troubleshoot issues; assist with system and client security updates to ensure systems function properly; support the efforts of the Help Desk and Field Services teams; collaborate with Field Technicians and Help Desk staff to ensure imaging and remote management services are operational and effective; and train appropriate technical teams on imaging processes and deployment changes.
  • Serve as a second- and third-tier escalation resource; perform advanced software and image compatibility troubleshooting in collaboration with internal and external resources; research and resolve desktop image issues; implement corrections to production images, as appropriate, and distribute updates Districtwide in accordance with District policy.
  • Utilize change management procedures; communicate effectively with customers and technical teams regarding planned changes and updates; ensure PC clients are maintained with current software versions and security updates; test new applications, operating systems, system patches, and software drivers; ensure compatibility and functionality with existing applications and services; and develop contingency plans and alternative solutions, as appropriate.
