The Systems Integration & Support Engineer is responsible for configuring, maintaining, updating, and troubleshooting software-based systems operating within a networked environment. The position supports the complete operational system, including its software, computing hardware, network interfaces, and associated system components.
Technical Capabilities- Virtualization: Familiarity with creating, configuring, and managing Virtual Machines.
- Linux Systems Administration: Strong Linux administration skills and proficiency with Bash scripting.
- Containerization & Orchestration:
Experience with Kubernetes and containerized application environments, with familiarity with Rancher and RKE
2. - Automation & Configuration Management: Experience using Ansible to automate configuration, deployment, and administrative activities.
- Networking: Solid understanding of fundamental networking concepts and the ability to troubleshoot basic network connectivity and communication issues.
- Configure and maintain software applications and system components operating within Linux-based, networked, and virtualized environments.
- Create, configure, and manage Virtual Machines (VMs) supporting system deployment, testing, and operations.
- Perform Linux system administration activities, including system configuration, user and service management, log analysis, and routine maintenance.
- Develop and maintain Bash scripts to support system administration, troubleshooting, and repeatable operational tasks.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain containerized applications and support infrastructure using Kubernetes and related container technologies.
- Support Kubernetes environments implemented through technologies such as Rancher and RKE
2. - Use Ansible to automate system configuration, software deployment, updates, and other repeatable administration activities.
- Install, configure, test, and deploy software updates, patches, and system releases.
- Perform system upgrades while maintaining compatibility across software, hardware, virtualization, container, and network components.
- Troubleshoot system-level issues to identify whether problems originate from software, hardware, networking, virtualization, containerization, or system configuration.
- Diagnose and resolve significant hardware failures, including replacement, configuration, and validation of failed components.
- Investigate and correct minor software defects, configuration issues, scripting errors, and application-level problems.
- Apply fundamental networking concepts to diagnose connectivity, addressing, routing, port, and service communication issues.
- Analyze system logs, software behavior, hardware status, container status, and network communications to isolate faults and determine root causes.
- Restore systems to an operational state following hardware, software, networking, virtualization, or configuration failures.
- Validate system functionality following maintenance, upgrades, repairs, deployments, or configuration changes.
- Document system configurations, automation procedures, troubleshooting findings, maintenance activities, and implemented solutions.
- Coordinate with software developers, network engineers, system administrators, and other technical personnel when issues require specialized support or software changes beyond the scope of the position.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
