Job Overview
NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership provides Clinical Logistics Transport Services across all Health Boards in Wales via its Health Courier Service, and is seeking Driver/Storekeeper staff to join this service based in the Torfaen area, serving South Wales. On average, the service sorts (via its own mail sorting hubs), delivers and collects over 120,000 items of mail/medical notes per week, and transports in excess of 5 million movements of samples of Blood Products and Pathology in accordance with Accord Dangereux Routier, Good Manufacturing Practice & legislative requirements per year.
Our core services operates between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday, with some services 24 hours a day.
As a Health Courier Service Driver/Storekeeper you will be responsible for stock items in stores centres and for the safe and secure transport, distribution and replenishment of NHS Pathology, Blood/Blood Products, Secure and Non-Secure Stationery, Laundry, Mail/Records and Stock items such as medical consumables (e.g. needles/syringes/containers) that are distributed to primary health care sites; hospitals, GP practices, pharmacies, opticians, dental surgeries across NHS Wales.

QualificationsApplicant requirements include:
- Driving a range of vans
- Dealing with customers
- Sound geographical knowledge of area served
- Full Driving Licence
- Moving and Handling and Awareness of Health and Safety
- Basic knowledge of Vehicle Maintenance
- Welsh speaker
- Use of Mobile Technology
- Basic knowledge of Vehicle Maintenance
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020. A submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service will be required.
To work in the UK, all candidates who are not UK or Republic of Ireland nationals require sponsorship to obtain either a Health and Care visa or a Skilled Worker visa, unless you have permission to work via another route.
