WGL - Content Advisor, Communications

Help bring the stories of Washington Gas to life across the channels and audiences that matter most. As the Communications Content Advisor, you will create compelling content for employees, customers, communities, and external stakeholders while coordinating communications campaigns from planning through  this hands-on role, you will manage content calendars and digital channels, support executive visibility, and collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver clear, consistent communications aligned with business priorities.

You will also use audience insights and results to continually strengthen how we communicate.

What You’ll Do

• Develop engaging content for employee, customer, community, operational, and corporate communications
• Create and edit articles, announcements, newsletters, website and social media content, presentations, talking points, and other communications materials
• Support executive visibility through thoughtful content and message development
• Adapt messaging for different audiences and channels while maintaining a consistent organizational voice
• Manage editorial calendars, publishing schedules, digital content updates, and content-planning processes
• Coordinate integrated communications campaigns and workflows across internal teams and external stakeholders
• Ensure content and communications activities align with organizational priorities and key business initiatives
• Compile communications metrics and recommend improvements based on results and audience engagement
• Support emergency communications planning, preparedness exercises, and incident-response efforts, including the development and distribution of timely communications materials

What You’ll Bring

• 2-5 years of communications experience, with strong writing, editing, and content-development capabilities
• Experience coordinating communications projects and managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Experience managing websites, digital channels, content-management systems, or publishing platforms
• Strong organizational, project-management, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skill
• A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Government Affairs, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
• Experience supporting integrated communications campaigns and using communications metrics to evaluate performance is preferred
• Experience with in regulated utilities, energy, public sector, or critical infrastructure environments is an asset
• Incident Command System training or experience supporting emergency communications is also an asset

The role offers a competitive salary range of $79,200 to $115,200 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, this position is eligible for our Short-Term Incentive compensation program.
