Role Overview :The Grant Writer is responsible for generating grant funding to meet the overall financial goal of over $1,000,000 annually. Specifically, the Grant Writer coordinates an agency wide grants calendar and monitors efforts to secure over $1,000,000 in private and public sector grant funding to address programmatic and agency funding needs for Valley Cities. The Grant Writer will prepare and submit program and agency funding proposals.
The Grant writer will also be responsible for communications support for development activities, the Board of Directors, and agency staff. The Grant Writer will develop and apply a consistent communication style and ensure execution of all written content for both offline and online communications materials, including agency literature, direct mail pieces, client brochures, advertisements, media releases, email communications, web sites/social media, infographics, and other collateral.
- Manage the preparation and submission of grant proposals submitted for Valley Cities programs and services, specifically:
- Coordinate and supervise submittal of over 50 funding proposals and reports annually to foundations and corporations as well as local, state, and federal agencies.
- Write and edit proposals as part of our grant writing team.
- Coordinate agency-wide efforts to target, track and establish strong relationships with funding sources; and coordinate complex multi-agency proposals with partnering agencies.
- Direct efforts to gather information on agency programs, community needs and public issues for use in grant proposals. Coordinate development and maintenance of funding source files, including up to date information on funding sources.
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or equivalent, or comparable experience in donor cultivation and solicitation.
- A minimum of two years of experience in grant writing (research, writing, planning, submitting reports); nonprofit environment and/or behavioral health writing experience preferred.
- Demonstrated abilities in management of multiple projects and priorities essential.
- Current Computer and Software proficiencies in the use of Microsoft Office programs (Teams, Word, Excel, Visio, PPT,) and Instrument.
- Strong project management skills, attention to details, and organizational skills to handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills to work effectively within a team environment, to interact with personnel at all levels in the organization and relate well to clients and families, and contacts outside the organization.
