About the RoleAs an Application Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing anti‑vibration solutions that meet customer requirements while ensuring technical excellence and product performance. You will identify and recommend the most suitable products from the existing portfolio, create detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings, and provide expert technical guidance to customers on product selection and application. The role also involves developing and executing validation test programmes to demonstrate product suitability, documenting results, and supporting continuous product improvement.
In addition, you will mentor and guide junior engineers, promote engineering best practices, and contribute to the overall technical capability of the team.
- Enquiries:
The engineer will receive enquiries from customers, fully understand detailed needs through consultation, and manage the process. - Customer engagement:
Following needs assessment, the engineer will maintain close communication, provide specification support, and attend business travel as required. - Concept proposals:
The engineer will create concept proposals with technical specifications, costs, and manufacturability assessment. - Performance criteria:
The engineer will perform stress, strain, and stiffness calculations and define tests to demonstrate that the design meets customer requirements. - Design solution:
The engineer will design product solutions based on customer requirements, using experience, manual calculations, or computer tools, and may modify existing designs or develop new ones. The engineer will also chair engineering review meetings. - Application engineering:
The engineer will provide customers with reports detailing product selection for their application. - Design for cost‑effective manufacture:
The engineer will ensure the product can be manufactured in a timely and cost‑effective manner by considering tolerances and design implications. - Customer focus:
The engineer will provide the highest level of customer service and respond to enquiries promptly. - Guidance and teaching:
The engineer will assist department members and share knowledge of best design principles.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role within the anti‑vibration products industry.
- Degree qualified in Mechanical or Polymer Engineering.
- Ability to design and communicate information on complex engineering drawings, with a sound grasp of product design. 3D CAD knowledge is essential.
- Experience in demonstrating product design and understanding the design process.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and previous experience liaising with customers professionally.
- Experience applying analytical approaches to design solutions.
- Familiarity with Microsoft programs.
