Summary Of PositionThe Director of Supply Chain oversees and directs all aspects of the company’s purchasing, supply chain, and facilities management functions across multiple divisions in the company's enterprise. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient procurement, inventory control, vendor relations, and space utilization that align with organizational growth and strategic plans. The Director will play a key leadership role in developing long‑term supply chain strategies, negotiating high‑value vendor agreements, analyzing resource needs, and providing recommendations on operational efficiencies, including office space and facilities usage.
By combining tactical purchasing responsibilities with strategic supply chain leadership, this position ensures the company’s resources are managed effectively to support business goals.
- Oversee the daily workflow, schedules, and performance of the Supply Chain & Purchasing Department.
- Provide strategic direction and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
- Develop and mentor team members to strengthen overall departmental capabilities.
- Lead vendor management and reporting processes, including development of Vendor Report Cards.
- Negotiate strategic vendor agreements, including payment terms, rebates, volume discounts, and multi‑branch supply chain contracts.
- Serve as the company’s representative in negotiations with key suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
- Evaluate and approve conditions for issuing and awarding bids.
- Oversee inventory management processes, ensuring accurate monthly reporting to the VP of Supply Chain.
- Monitor product availability, forecast future supply needs, and prepare market and cost analysis reports.
- Collaborate with Operations to assess equipment needs, evaluating repair vs. replacement decisions.
- Develop and implement long‑term supply chain strategies that support business growth and operational efficiency.
- Analyze market trends and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
- Design and implement policies and procedures for purchasing, inventory, and contract management.
- Review employee headcount and operational growth to provide office space recommendations.
- Oversee building space utilization to ensure cost‑effective, safe, and efficient use of facilities.
- Partner with leadership on facilities‑related agreements, leases, and long‑term occupancy planning.
- Administer the departmental budget, including setting annual rental rates and rebate programs.
- Collaborate with Finance and Operations to ensure alignment of purchasing and capital equipment decisions.
- Prepare financial forecasts for supply chain expenses.
- Coordinate lodging, credit applications, and special project procurement.
- Support Operations by sourcing products, negotiating equipment rentals, and scheduling logistics.
- Monitor and resolve discrepancies with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field (master’s preferred).
- 7+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, purchasing, or procurement, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience in vendor contract negotiation and vendor performance reporting.
- Experience with multi‑branch supply chain management and facilities/space planning.
- Strong analytical and strategic planning skills.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, set departmental goals, and deliver measurable results.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills with ability to coach and mentor others.
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office Suite skills; ability to work with ERP.
