Description
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, and evaluating heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance, safety compliance, and adherence to company and industry standards. This role requires mechanical expertise, attention to detail, and collaboration with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability
Responsibilities Equipment Inspections- Conduct routine and detailed inspections of heavy equipment, including bulldozers, cranes, excavators, and backhoes.
- Identify wear, damage, or malfunctions, ensuring all equipment meets operational and safety standards.
- Perform functional tests on machinery to evaluate performance and detect potential issues.
- Ensure all tests align with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, testing, and repairs for quality control purposes.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for management, ensuring maintenance and repair work meets quality standards.
- Diagnose equipment faults and mechanical failures, assisting in root cause analysis.
- Work with maintenance teams to identify long-term solutions and process improvements.
- Ensure all work adheres to safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
- Follow company policies and industry best practices to maintain quality control procedures.
- Work closely with engineers, mechanics, and service technicians to ensure proper repairs and testing.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to source required parts and components.

- Assist in developing and following preventative maintenance schedules to reduce equipment downtime.
- Monitor equipment usage patterns and provide recommendations for improving longevity and performance.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s degree in a relevant field is a plus.
- Several years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance, quality control, inspections, or diagnostics.
- Relevant certifications such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) or equivalent are preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems in heavy machinery.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
- Comfort working in outdoor environments and under various weather conditions.
- Experience operating heavy machinery and performing physical tasks as needed.
- Work may be outdoors in different weather conditions.
- Extended hours may be required during peak seasons or urgent repair situations.
