Express Employment Professionals is hiring a Precision Machinist specializing in CNC Milling or CNC Lathe operations to support high-quality machining operations in a precision manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for machinists who enjoy programming, setup, and hands-on machining while producing tight-tolerance components from engineering drawings.
Position SummaryThe Precision Machinist is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment to produce precision components while maintaining high standards for quality, efficiency, and safety. Candidates should be comfortable working independently and troubleshooting machining processes to ensure consistent production.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram, edit, and optimize CNC programs (G-code) for milling or turning operations. Set up machines including material loading, tooling selection, offsets, and fixturing. Interpret blueprints, GD&T specifications, and technical drawings. Select proper cutting tools, speeds, and feeds based on material and part requirements. Operate CNC mills or lathes to manufacture precision components. Monitor machine performance and adjust processes to maintain tight tolerances.
Conduct first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks. Utilize precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Maintain production efficiency while meeting quality standards. Document inspection results and production data as required. Maintain high-quality surface finishes and dimensional accuracy. Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements. Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
Minimum 2+ years CNC machining experience (mill or lathe specialization). Ability to program and edit G-code at the machine. Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge. Experience using precision inspection tools and gauges. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with CAD/CAM programming software. Experience machining materials such as steel, aluminum, stainless, and plastics. Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices. Dependable work ethic with strong communication skills. Self-motivated with attention to detail and strong integrity.
Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods during shifts. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Manual dexterity and strong attention to detail for precision work.
