Senior Project Manager

Otter Tail Power Company is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead large transmission projects through development, construction, and closeout. The role oversees scheduling, budgeting, cost control, risk management, consultant hiring, public outreach, landowner and agency engagement, route development, permitting, and approvals.

Responsibilities
  • Lead execution and closeout of high‑impact transmission line, substation, and related utility projects.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost control plans.
  • Coordinate contractors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Interpret contracts and manage procurement planning, construction oversight, quality assurance, outage coordination, commissioning, energization, and transition to operations.
  • Apply OTP safety rules and foster a strong safety culture throughout all phases of work.
  • Travel within the service territory as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field (master’s preferred).
  • At least 10 years of progressive project management experience, including five years managing complex electric utility projects.
  • Demonstrated success in transmission line and substation construction.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and decision‑making capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Excellent communication, sound decision‑making, and consistent accountability.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast‑paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Competitive base compensation $105,000 to $132,000 annually.
