Utility Locator

Compensation

$18.00 hourly. Starting rate ranges from $18.00 per hour for new locators to $24.50 per hour for those with substantial prior locating experience.

• Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate underground utilities, including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
• Thoroughly search for underground utilities in a designated area, accurately marking the location, completing necessary documentation, and photographing each locate.
• Work daytime full‑time positions with a 48‑hour turnaround on many locates, including overtime, weekend shifts, and on‑call shifts (including nights and weekends) as needed.

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Computer proficiency.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on‑call shifts as needed.
• Able to pass a drug screen.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, walk, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to distinguish colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
• Ability to read and understand locate tickets, maps, and prints.
• Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
